My intention in creating these paintings is to spark creative perspectives on the relationship between human constructs and nature, and in doing so, encourage a more integrated and aesthetic approach to the environments we create. The portraits give me the opportunity to explore the figure in an non-traditional way, bringing out planes of the body through parts of the pattern in a way that surprised me in its references to cubism.
